SYB FRIDAY 666 - 26th October

Bouncy Rail that I've never seen hit

It's at one of the most rinsed out and hated spots in Glasgow, but I have no idea if anyone has skated this before at the Kingston bridge?! It's a tricky little thing to skate (ask the lad Hickey) - but with some skater ingenuity and a few asian dude's traffic cones we were sorted. When hitting it ye gotta try and compensate for the bounce back which looked a bastard... but eventually Murray smashed out a Nosegrind. It's worth hitting this if yer sesh gets washed out in Glasgow but prepare to get hassled by some wee asian dude.

Murray I - BS Nosegrind wae bounce oot @ Kingston Bridge

Kaplank Kapow - Aberdeen skate tour 2012

SYB FRIDAY 666

A mighty Bunker barge.

Being invited to closed doors sesh is something to get hella hyped about so when SYB got the nod it was fucking on! Skating a rad wee setup with some shredders, indoor on a soaking night and yer jamming. Add in some classic heavy tunes and a bar only metres from the ramps and SYB is in fucking skate heaven! Here's just a few of the things that went down. Menzies and Seth were on fucking fire like molten hot lava or something similar that is extremely flammable.

Thanks goes out to Seth and his mates for making this possible. Cheers dude.

Kieran - Super gnar transfer

McKenzie - Stage dive

Kieran - Wallride

Murray I - Ollie off the stage

Seth - blunt rag-in

SYB FRIDAY 666 - 12th October

Grabbing out the demonic dark deep end...

Can't really beat an unorganised late night shred, ending up at some random spots. Monday night had a little park, marble ledges, wallrides and late night cruising - it makes skate life in winter a bit morebearable.

Go do it.

The yeti strikes again @ kirky

Well.Mother edit

So here's the first bit of footage surfaced from Motherwell Skate park/plaza. Nice little edit from Alex Winch, with Tom Shimmin, Rory, Hickey (D.M.C represent), Murray (D.M.C represent) and a load more shredders from Glasgow.

As you can see it can be fun but the little kids are fucking wild. Beware!

LIVI YA BASS!!! FRAMED PHOTO

LIVI YA BASS!!!!

To celebrate the oldest and most gnarly concrete beast in Scotland getting a new and insane extension built, SYB is selling a framed photo of the park in it's resilient and undefeated existence. I've only made very limited amount of these (5) to be sold. Part of the proceeds will be going towards funding next years Livi Skate Party.

The photo is a 12" x 10" Giclee Fine Art print
on Fuji Fine Art Bartye Gloss paper (high quality shit) housed in a 42cm x 32cm black frame.

I'm selling them in the SYB SHOP for £50 + £6 postage (or can drop off in Glasgow/Edinburgh). CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE SHOP

Motherwell Skate Park

A fresh approach to fucking things up

As you may have heard Motherwell recently acquired a skate park in the Duchess Park beside Airbles train station, funded by North Lanarkshire Council and built by Bendcrete. You may also have heard that it's pretty shit, which is correct. It's at most a five minute warm up session before going to skate somewhere better.

To my knowledge this wasn't planned in any normal way. At the last minute someone at the council managed to convince councillors to not just build a five-a-side pitch but also a small skatepark. The problem is the design they went with is a total head fuck and retardidly laid out in an awkward space. That said - you will get 5 minutes of fun at this place, but this quickly gets transformed into annoyance of a stream of children going in a constant circle on scooters and bikes. If you want to hit it go first thing in the morning - if you still fancy checking it out to make your own judgement.

This all but highlights the need for proper consultation with skaters and people who have a fucking clue.

TX treats

Here's some updates from the a'deen locals. A bit late but better than never. Sorry Lads! Sick skating as always tho.

SYB FRIDAY 666 - 5th October

It's a pretty bad feeling when ye lose your hype for skateboarding which kind of happened to ole SYB. So apologies for lack of decent posts lately. SYB is trying to pull out the finger.

It happens to every shralper at point I guess but I'm hoping there might be some upsides to this shite downer -
1. You get to feel that initial insane adrenaline again when you rediscover the hype.
2. There are skate photos and videos out there that will hopefully get that love of skateboarding back.

I was looking through some photos I took recently and thought about the fact there are always different angles to approach skateboarding - which makes it so amazing. So maybe a gnarly angle and sick skate photo will help find some of that fucking hype again....?! What a depressing ramble.

Here is Aaron Wilmot Floating one over a gap at Livi indoor.
